Vested

 I’m a fan of the maxi. It might possibly be the easiest thing to throw on for any summertime occasion. Dinners, parties, errands, exploring the town… a maxi dress has you covered! And the best part about a maxi dress- no need to make sure legs are perfectly tan and shaven, no one will even know!

I wore this maxi out to dinner at a little hole in the wall Mexican place. You know the kind where the walls are covered in cactus murals and pinatas hang from the ceiling. (My favorite kind of Mexican restaurant!!) I almost felt like I blended in with the decor since the colors in this dress were just about matching the colors all over. I wasn’t mad about it one bit!

Palms

From the beginning of summer I’ve been crushing on palm prints. No secret that I’m a fan of summer and tropical places, and when I wear the print I’m instantly put in a better mood! Bright colors, flowy skirt, and a light material that isn’t too heavy for those tropical temps! I love this dress, dying over this romper, and how adorable are these espadrilles! I wish that it wasn’t already August because I don’t know if I can transition these into the snowy months! But maybe. Or maybe I’ll just have to plan lots of tropical getaways!

Keeping Cool

 

This weekend is definitely going down in my top 5 favorites of this summer . It was filled with lots of live music, grilling out, drinking, dancing, laughing and ended with family time. I made a big pasta meal last night over at my Grandmothers and we sat, shared stories and of course I’m thinking about how blessed I truly am. And one thing I can tell you… after eating an italian dinner I’m definitely not in a crop top today! BUT this combo is one of my favorites too… high waisted shorts, crop tops and statement earrings. I’m all about the crop top and statement earrings right now so this one will be worn again for sure!

Solids

I love prints. My closet is filled with mostly prints so putting together an outfit of solids isn’t as easy as one would think. But, as much as I love prints, this outfit reminded me of how much I love simple, staple, solid pieces. This skirt is a long pencil skirt from J.Crew which has become a regular in my 9-5 rotation. And this racerback silk cami, another J.Crew buy, I can’t seem to get enough of. I have a million outfits spinning through my mind where I can wear it… to a picnic, on a date night, or just running errands. (And I love it so much that I bought it in a print!) And lastly my shoes… my new shoes that I have to give the boy credit for since he told me to go with these beauties… which were 50% off. So yeah, he gives pretty good advice… I’ll keep him around ;)!

New Shoes

Back in D.C! What a crazy jam packed couple of weeks I’ve had, and it feels so good to be home, but it was worth it! Graduations were great, the conference was inspirational, and now I have a to-do list that puts any little kid’s Christmas wish list to shame! I saw the top HR leaders in the industry speak, I listened to Robin Roberts, David Novak, Tom Friedman and Laura Bush give inspiring messages and now it’s my turn to take the reigns and do something to give back. Pay it forward.

But first, let me talk about these shoes.

When I got this box on mail day, I couldn’t even wait until I was in the elevator. I opened these babes outside of my apartment building, took them out in the elevator and was wearing them walking into my apartment. White, black and gold. Lace up and they’re comfortable! What is there not too love?!

Sunset Heat

So summer is here. And it’s been here in the DC metro area. Holy humidity! And if you want to talk about some crucial thunderstorms…! A couple weeks back I was getting ready for Yoga and it started raining then thundering, and Boom! The fire alarm went off for what seemed like hours as we sat at the bottom of our stairwell so we wouldn’t be outside in the storm. Those rain storms aren’t helping the humidity and dressing for work is getting harder and harder. What do you wear all day in a very chilly office that’s cool enough to transition to an outdoor happy hour? Well, like every season, my chambray is my go-to. Thank goodness it hasn’t fallen off trend yet!

Home Away From Home

College is a funny thing.

It’s terrifying when you’re entering, a learning experience while you’re there, and the best to look back on. I had such a great college experience at CNU, and every time I’m driving south through Virginia on 95 I get a little nostalgic, and this weekend will be no different.

I’m heading down to the good ‘ol Newport News for a friends wedding and I am so (beyond) excited. I’m excited to see friends that I haven’t seen recently, the campus that I grew to love, and excited to have all those feelings and reflect back on what those 4 years meant to me. Whenever I’m in town I of course visit all my favorite places. Lion’s Bridge, Plaza Azteca, the little boutiques of City Center and so much more. I’m just hoping I can squeeze them all in!

Camo

We all saw camo creep into our closets from fall to now, and the trend is here to stay. I bought a camo tshirt that I’ve worn dressed up and down, but I never got into the full camo pants or jackets, even though I think they’re adorable! This dress, although not exactly camo, still makes me feel a little bit like a bad ass. The leather detailing, the print, the color, the way I can simply accessorize and still feel like it’s a complete completed outfit.

Shift dresses are a tough one sometimes on me, but this one is so comfortable, still a little flowy and it cuts in at the top just the right amount.

Oh, and just an FYI… Medium iced-coffees are 99 cents right now… go now, start running on Dunkin’!

Annnnd I’m back!

Happy Memorial Day a little late… I hope you all had a great long weekend! I sat in the car most of Monday so sorry for the lack of a post, but actually, everyone needs a break while on a vacation! And I’m now so thrown off on what day it was. I spent most of yesterday thinking it was Monday which made me totally forget that I have yoga on Tuesdays… But it was much needed after a long weekend of zero physical activity and lots of beers & food! I’m starting to really love yoga and my studio offers a ton of different classes. Last night was Yoga + Weights AND music! Yup, not your average yoga class!!

Monday we meet again.

Too soon! What a fun weekend though! I went down to Richmond, VA for a bachelorette party for a college friend and it was a blast! Richmond is just such a cute little city with a little southern charm. Plus it’s always great catching up with friends you haven’t seen in awhile!

I wore this look awhile back when I went down to Miami in February. It was one of my favorite looks from that trip. Sequins, cropped, a fun print and vegan leather… just a few of my favorite things!
