Pointed toe pumps made a comeback, now it’s time to spot light the d’ Orsay pump. Since it’s almost back to school time, lets define the d’ Orsay pump. A d’Orsay style pump is a woman’s shoe in which the vamp of the shoe is cut away very close to the toe box, and the sides are cut away, revealing the arch of the foot. Aka… very sexy, and a definitely must have for fall!
Remember to keep your eye out for some big changes around here!! I’m getting excited!
I’m a fan of the maxi. It might possibly be the easiest thing to throw on for any summertime occasion. Dinners, parties, errands, exploring the town… a maxi dress has you covered! And the best part about a maxi dress- no need to make sure legs are perfectly tan and shaven, no one will even know!
I wore this maxi out to dinner at a little hole in the wall Mexican place. You know the kind where the walls are covered in cactus murals and pinatas hang from the ceiling. (My favorite kind of Mexican restaurant!!) I almost felt like I blended in with the decor since the colors in this dress were just about matching the colors all over. I wasn’t mad about it one bit!
P.S. Big changes are going to be happening around here! I’m redoing/moving my site!! More details to come soon! Hope you all follow along! xo
A couple days ago I posted about simple outfits which is still on my mind. I shop a lot, and sometimes I buy things for one specific event or outing and then hardly look at it again. (Such a waste!) So my end of the summer, going into fall, goal is to focus on key pieces. Key pieces can still be fun and bright and exciting, but I need pieces that I’ll see a future with!
I’ve already shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale early, but I keep going back because so much of what’s on sale are those key pieces I’m talking about! How pretty are these statement earrings from Kendra Scott, and can’t you just see yourself grabbing and throwing everything into this tote! I just might have to re-shop the sale!
I had one heck of a week and semi restricted from going anywhere this weekend so if I have to stay put (which drives me nuts) I plan on spending it pool side! I mean I might as well get a tan, right!?
I just started reading The Fault In Our Stars. I usually shy away from reading books that are already made into movies but I picked this up and didn’t want to put it down. I can’t wait to get the chance to pick it back up and I can bet you, by Monday I’ll be done!
I saw this dress on J.Crew Factory’s site and immediately had to buy it. Screw my “no shopping for a while” promise to myself, this dress needed to be in my closet. Plus it was the perfect dress to pack for my whirlwind of graduation trips! The color, the sporadic print of art deco beach scenes, and the fact that it is beyond comfortable… this dress very well may be my new favorite! I can’t wait to dress it more casually with flip-flops and my panama hat or continue to play on the lilacs, corals, blacks and reds in the dress!
What a week! I know I’ve been saying that every Friday for the last couple of weeks but seriously my life has been so busy. Work has been busy, life events have been busy, and quite frankly I’m exhausted. All I want is a weekend to lay out at the pool with a stack of magazines and some sweet tea. But that will have to wait!
Today I’m headed to watch my little sister graduate high school and then I’ll jump in the car and head on up to New York where I’ll watch my brother graduate college! Then early Sunday morning I catch a flight down to Orlando for a work conference. Who needs sleep!?!
But one thing, regardless of how busy I get, is my attraction to hot pink right now. SUCH a good summer color and pretty much looks banging on anyone with a little bit of a sun kissed skin. And if you’re like me and haven’t had a chance to get to the pool this summer yet, I swear by Neutrogena Micro Mist Sunless Tanning!!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend and I’ll talk to you on Monday!
Yup, I might have a little bit of a problem…. But there were SUCH GOOD DEALS out there! [Just let me keep thinking that!]
Seriously though, here’s my justification… J.Crew Factory right now- everything is 50% off! And those shoes. Well I wanted the pink and tan pair but they were out of my size. Naturally I just chose a different color instead of walking away. (Which, by the way, I’m happy with my decision, black and white is probably more practical!) And that little pink dress… the print is adorable. It’s very Palm Beach which is perfect since I’m sure there will be a trip down to the sunshine state soon… Or, I’ll wear it to my sister’s graduation festivities! (Only fitting since she’s going to be a FL resident!) I also purchased this pastel leopardish print top from Collective Concepts that’s not on here, but I’m super excited about it! I can’t decide if I want to pair it with my tweed mini or my neon pencil skirt!Beauty products… you can never have too many! And here’s my secret- give yourself a sunless tan with this micro-mist spray and spend your money on more fun things. Seriously Neutrogena’s sunless spray is the bomb!
Memorial Day has come and gone, so tis the season to wear white! Not that I actually follow that “rule” but it’s fun to step out in a brand spanking new white outfit! And shoot… a full white outfit is totally acceptable now too! And to top it all off… it’s Friday! Happy Friday!
I’m a fan when there’s a play on textures or layers so naturally these eyelet pieces I’m drawn to year after year. My bank account might not like this reoccurring obsession, but that’s ok because eyelet is such a summer staple! How pretty is this summer dress with the side cut outs, and can’t you just not wait to stroll on over to a summer picnic in this eyelet hat! I can’t decide which one I should get, I love them all!
It is almost Memorial Day weekend which means I’m sure a ton of you are packing your bikini and hitting the road toward the beach! Dewey/Bethany/Rehoboth are the beaches that most DC’ians go to this weekend, which means avoid 50 at all costs! But you if you’re going to the beach, a lake, or just the grocery store straw totes are the perfect bag to grab for this time of the year. I love how straw bags are no longer the itchy, can only be used to store beach toys bags, but now a statement. Have fun with a dip-dyed tote or one with parrots like the Vera Bradley bag above. I’m loving the Tory tote… neutral yet patterned. My kind of straw bag!
