From the beginning of summer I’ve been crushing on palm prints. No secret that I’m a fan of summer and tropical places, and when I wear the print I’m instantly put in a better mood! Bright colors, flowy skirt, and a light material that isn’t too heavy for those tropical temps! I love this dress, dying over this romper, and how adorable are these espadrilles! I wish that it wasn’t already August because I don’t know if I can transition these into the snowy months! But maybe. Or maybe I’ll just have to plan lots of tropical getaways!
For my roommate’s birthday she wanted a “jorts” party so enter these shorts into my life. I am not a fan of shorts and in all honesty I thought these shorts would be worn one time and then never again but they are way more comfortable and easy to throw on to run errands! I love the floral print of these and how I can pair it with flats, wedges, t-shirts, or blouses! Turns out they weren’t only a one-time-wear buy!
Last Friday, I unfortunately had to work… and really wasn’t a happy worker looking at instagram and seeing everyone else extending their July 4th celebrations. Well the boy and I decided that we weren’t going to let our bad moods get the best of us so we ventured into Georgetown. We walked around, shopped, tried not to over heat in the 92 degree weather and then stopped at Paper Moon for some drinks and appetizers! It was the perfect post holiday/ post work outing!
Last summer I saw the Free People dress with the crocheted middle and thought it was adorable. This spring when I was on one of my shopping trips to Marshall’s I came across this Do & Be dress for $19.99 that looks identical to the Free People dress! And Yup. This panama hat has already proved itself a staple in my outfit choices!

Going back to visit my alma mater is always such a nostalgic experience. You spend four years on the campus and you grow to love not only the people but your surroundings. I hands down think CNU is one of the prettiest campuses — maybe I’m alittle bit biased or that it’s because everything is new! CNU sits on the James River in Newport News, VA. Being so close to the water, and since we are the Captains, I couldn’t help but dress a little nautical during my weekend visit to show some school pride.

I shop a lot… I’m talking a lot, but most of the time I have an item that I’m searching for and each season it changes. Sometimes it’s shoes, sometimes hats but recently it’s been statement necklaces that I’m coveting. There are so many really interesting ones out there that every time I find another one, I can’t help but snatch it up. I’m a big fan of bangles and earrings, but when I have one of these necklaces on I don’t feel the need to add much more jewelry to my look. Collar, chunky, simple, link… what type of necklace are you coveting this season?
Here are a few of my favorites that I can’t stop wearing…
For the last couple of weeks I was on the hunt for the perfect nude (high heeled) sandal. I have probably three or four wedges in the natural hue, but after seeing some ad campaigns featuring the cork heel, I knew I had to add it to my collection. It is seriously so versitile that I haven’t stopped thinking of outfits to pair them with, and couldn’t wait to throw them on for this casual/weekend look.

I picked up this black and white chevron fit and flare dress during one of my shopping excursions in LA. (You can read about my trip in previous posts) I love it for so many reasons- black and white, chevron print, and the material is so comfortable. It is a perfect weekend dress that can easily be transitioned from day to night. It was a breezy day so I paired it with a casual jacket (that has some oriental detail on the cuffs), threw on some wedges and ta-da, outfit complete!

Last summer I must have tried on at least 20 panama hats (that is not an exaggeration) but I never pulled the plug. Especially on weekends I would grab some clothes and wish that I had a panama hat to top off my look. (get it- top off- haha) When writing my “to-buy” list, like I do at the beginning of each season, I knew that this was the year- I was even willing to splurge on the J.Crew version but then my trusty TJ Maxx pulled through with this one for $9.99. Yup.

After two full days in San Francisco we boarded our flight and headed to LAX. (FYI two days in SF is not enough time to get done everything I wanted to… but that just means I’ll have to plan another trip!) I had been to LA before so this time around I wanted to do the non-touristy touristy things! We had a pretty good idea of the things we wanted to hit (including driving past Sur) and accomplished pretty much everything! The first day in LA we drove to Silverlake and stopped by Intelligencia, a coffee shop frequented by hipsters. Super cool space and all the servers 1000% fit the part. We then drove up to the Griffith Observatory and got to see the views of LA- Hollywood sign included! We got super lucky with a beautiful weather but regardless of how sunny and warm it is you can’t get away from the LA smog!
