My brother made fun of me the minute I walked into my parents house in this outfit. There were some definite jokes about the 70s but I’m over the jokes from my brothers at this point- that’s what brothers are for. What I’m not over is jumpsuits. I now have a growing collection hanging in my closet and I can’t seem to get enough! I love that, like dresses, they’re an instant outfit. I love the way they’re easily dressed up or down, can be worn to a variety of events and they’re surprisingly very comfortable. When I blogged about my black jumpsuit I talked about how they’re a little difficult to find one that fits correctly, but if you have some time to try them on- go! I promise you, you will want to keep jumping into them as well!

{Cheers} 2014!

I hope that everyone had a happy, safe and celebratory time ringing in the New Year and it was extended to the weekend! I know I had a great time celebrating with friends in a cozy cabin watching the snow fall.

I’ve thought a lot about my little quote from Friday about being happy and I am very optimistic about 2014… already there are so many wonderful events planned! I’m turning 25, I’m throwing my sister’s bachelorette weekend, my sister is marrying the love of her life, my other sister is graduating high school, and my brother is graduating from college! My parents are moving to start a new chapter in their life, I’m attending a huge conference for work in June, and it seems that my life just keeps getting better {and filled with more clothes}!

Cheers to 2014, I can’t wait to see whats in store!

Menswear

If I were asked what I thought closet staples were, the first couple of things that come to my mind are a white blouse, black pants, a wool coat, and black pumps. Those are things that can be paired with statement pieces or paired together for a more classic, menswear-esq look. I chose the latter for this look but all my staples have little twists. My white blouse is embellished, my black pumps have a snakeskin heel, and my wool coat is a bright teal adding a nice pop to any outfit. I love taking classic outfits and tweaking pieces to add my own touch… it kind of exemplifies my style, classic with a twist! What do you think your style is?

Sweater {Weather}

Casual clothes are made for weekends but by no means does casual have to mean ugly! With all the sweaters and fancy sweatshirts out there, weekends have turned glam… and still comfortable! These loft jeans are my go-to pair for pretty much anything. They were purchased black but I love how they’ve faded. The now distressed black color gives off a bit of edge regardless if I’m in a casual or fancy top.

(And for days when washing your hair just isn’t in your plans, grab a hat!)

Topper

I am loving all the hats popping up in stores, on pinterest, blogs, etc. There are so many styles out there from fedoras to baseball to bowl hats and each one looks uniquely adorable! I purchased a maroon floppy felt hat last fall and snatched this navy felt hat from Forever21 (for $5.99) and can’t wait to find some more to add to my growing collection!

If you’re a little weary of the trend start off small and work your way bolder. It is the perfect finishing touch to any look and is great for keeping your hair in place when taking pictures!
