I hope that everyone had a happy, safe and celebratory time ringing in the New Year and it was extended to the weekend! I know I had a great time celebrating with friends in a cozy cabin watching the snow fall.

I’ve thought a lot about my little quote from Friday about being happy and I am very optimistic about 2014… already there are so many wonderful events planned! I’m turning 25, I’m throwing my sister’s bachelorette weekend, my sister is marrying the love of her life, my other sister is graduating high school, and my brother is graduating from college! My parents are moving to start a new chapter in their life, I’m attending a huge conference for work in June, and it seems that my life just keeps getting better {and filled with more clothes}!

Cheers to 2014, I can’t wait to see whats in store!

Tee Time

I’m lucky enough to have worked in a place long enough where I can push the dress code boundaries a little bit… I mean business casual can be interpreted a lot of different ways right?! But back to this post- I’m a big fan of the way t-shirts paired with business pieces look. It’s comfortable for one and easy to transition from work to play. I picked up this polkadot skirt from The Loft at the end of the summer and completely forgot that I had it! Can’t go wrong with a black pencil skirt but when there’s polkadots on it too it’s even better!

Grey

You know when your alarm goes off and yet it still looks like (and feels) the middle of the night to you? Those are the days where I stand in front of my closet for what seems like hours only wanted to grab the most comfortable of clothes.

I had a meeting so I knew I had to be somewhat put together but it was only with my boss and director so nothing too fancy. Then I remembered, Tshirts are 100% wearable to work. Tucked it into my pencil skirt, adorned myself with some necklaces and I was out the door! Forgetting my umbrella & all!

Mixing & Matching

Mixing prints are not an easy task to do and I’ve had a couple tweets/ messages/ comments etc. about how people are too nervous to try. For one you have to remember to just keep the color scheme the same. Secondly don’t over think it. If you have a small print on bottom try a bigger print up top. And thirdly you can pair whatever you want it just depends how bold you want to be! A simple pairing is a floral or animal print (small print) with a stripped shirt. It’s easy to accomplish, you get a fun look going and everyone has a striped shirt!
