Come on by the new site to continue to follow me! You can get my blog posts straight to your email & shop my posts!
It is the 31st of July, which means tomorrow is August. August! How/Where did this summer go! We’re more than half way over and I have so much more I want to do! And the as much as I’m loving the new fall styles popping up in stores, I’m putting a stop to my sweater, long sleeve, and anything but sum mer wear buys! Luckily it stays pretty warm through September but I’m going to cramp as much as I can into this final summer month! Here’s my “I absolutely have to do these” to-do list…
What’s left on your to-do list before Autumn arrives?
You guys. I’m sick. Like days in bed, looks like a truck ran over me, after I was trampled by a heard of antelope. That kind of sick. Which is no bueno, especially mid-summer! BUT what is making me feel a little bit better is this yummy oatmeal & quinoa breakfast.
Bring milk to a boil in a small saucepan. Add quinoa, and return to a boil. Reduce heat to low, and simmer, covered, until three-quarters of the milk has been absorbed, about 15 minutes. Stir in sugar and cinnamon. Cook, covered, until almost all the milk has been absorbed, about 8 minutes. Garnish with berries, nuts, more brown sugar or whatever you want!
I know you’ve heard of Warby Parker. The actually affordable eye glasses shop that sends you 5 pairs to try and for every pair you purchase, they give a pair! (And they’ve distributed over one million pairs!!) And to ensure that you get the absolute best looking pair of glasses out there, Warby Parker has an in house design team that gathers inspiration from around the globe! And the design team knocked it out of the park with this new collection.
The Beacon Collection not only has glasses but also sunglasses! It’s inspired by impromptu, can’t-duplicate-them all nighters, when having no plans brings endless possibilities. And how cool is this- the collection name is a hat-tip to the morning star, which you can catch just after sunset or right before sunrise. These glasses can easily transition from day to night looks, fancy to casual, and everything in between!
My personal favorite of the collection is the McKee in Whiskey Tortoise. It’s an easygoing, round frame that “suits medium faces and cheery personalities!”
All opinions above are my own
Usually I’m a “I’ll just have water” type of girl but after standing in line for what seemed like forever, and staring at the two fresh juice options Cava Mezze Grill had, I decided to opt for the watermelon & mint. Welp, that changed everything. I couldn’t suck that baby down fast enough, and I even debated turning around and going back for seconds. Yes it is that good!
I tried my hand at a watermelon refresher and it wasn’t half bad! Super simple to make, really delicious and hydrating, and the best part about it… if you’re feeling a little spicy, just throw in some alcohol. Rum or a mojito type vibe, tequila for a semi-margarita!
1 cup cubed watermelon, 1/4 cup of fresh mint leaves, 1 cup of water. Blend together watermelon and water to a puree. Add in mint leaves, leave a few to garnish.
P.S. Anyone in the DC area attending the RewardStyle back to school night tomorrow?! If so, I’ll see you there!! xo
I had one heck of a week and semi restricted from going anywhere this weekend so if I have to stay put (which drives me nuts) I plan on spending it pool side! I mean I might as well get a tan, right!?
I just started reading The Fault In Our Stars. I usually shy away from reading books that are already made into movies but I picked this up and didn’t want to put it down. I can’t wait to get the chance to pick it back up and I can bet you, by Monday I’ll be done!
You know how crazy and all over the place you feel when leaving town for a weekend. Making check lists, throwing things in a bag, and then of course having to turn around once more before actually leaving because you forgot that razor or tide-to-go pen! Well thanks to the Vow VoxBox they have me covered with everything I need to bring on my weekend getaways. Whether it be for a wedding or vacation, I have an item I’m absolutely packing! Out of what I received in my VoxBox, my top three favorites were Olay Moisturizing Cream, Sally Hansen Nail Polish and Pure Silk Shaving Cream. These three will be coming with me on every summer getaway!
First off, I’m a huge fan of moisturizing creams. I have tried tons and constantly on the search for a good one that won’t be too oily or heavy in the humid summer months. Well, Olay’s Regnererist Luminous Tone Perfecting Cream just might put my search on pause. It’s light, smells great and you do seriously see a difference in a couple uses.
You all know that I’m a snob when it comes to nail polish. I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to Essie and OPI being my two go-to brands, but this Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure was amazing for a quick fix! No base coat needed and the color is perfect for summer!
And finally, Pure Silk. Which makes your legs feel just that. I, unfortunately, got the genes where my legs stay smooth for a day before I have to shave again which makes me feel like I’m just taking off any tan (real or fake!) that I have! With Pure Silk it leaves my legs smoother for longer and the smell is just as delicious!
Just a little quick post to get you ready for one of the greatest American holidays!! I hope you’re ready to eat lots of potato salad, hot dogs and good ol’ American pie! I know I am!
What a week! I know I’ve been saying that every Friday for the last couple of weeks but seriously my life has been so busy. Work has been busy, life events have been busy, and quite frankly I’m exhausted. All I want is a weekend to lay out at the pool with a stack of magazines and some sweet tea. But that will have to wait!
Today I’m headed to watch my little sister graduate high school and then I’ll jump in the car and head on up to New York where I’ll watch my brother graduate college! Then early Sunday morning I catch a flight down to Orlando for a work conference. Who needs sleep!?!
But one thing, regardless of how busy I get, is my attraction to hot pink right now. SUCH a good summer color and pretty much looks banging on anyone with a little bit of a sun kissed skin. And if you’re like me and haven’t had a chance to get to the pool this summer yet, I swear by Neutrogena Micro Mist Sunless Tanning!!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend and I’ll talk to you on Monday!
Because when they’re this beautiful, bright, and fresh, that’s all you’re going to want to do!
Have you heard of Bouqs? They are the, now, going to be the only company that I use to send flowers. Bouqs is a company that charges a single flat rate for all flowers, and always free shipping. No annoying buy ups or hidden fees that take what you thought was going to be a $39.99 order to $63.99! Bouqs are cut on the day that you order, and shipped 2-4 days after. Always farm fresh from two locations… Volcano stems from the equator,10,000 feet above sea level, which means one thing: lot of sun. These Bouqs are fed by pure volcanic snow melt and mineral-rich, ph-balanced soil. And their California cut flowers come straight from eco-friendly farms on the coast! How crazy! You can order a one time shipment, or customize it to be sent on all holidays, or on a “just because” schedule.
Special thanks to The Bouqs team for sending me these gorgeous flowers! Pictured is the Desperado. The Desperado is a beautiful combination of Pink Roses with Purple Dianthus or similar accent flowers. They lasted for days, smelled delicious, and the pictures don’t even do the beauty of these justice!
