S’mores Made Simple

I don’t have a fire, nor do I have a fondue set so my craving for s’mores was one that made me start thinking. I knew I had to be creative to satisfy this taste and after a day or so of pondering dipping graham crackers into chocolate I thought of this idea…

Now after making cake pops (here) any dessert on a stick to me is adorable. I’m all about the bite sized versions, so this dessert is one to try out if you’re on the bandwagon like me! It’s super simple, you hardly need any ingredients and it’s cheap to make! (Under $10!)

Grab a bag of regular to jumbo sized marshmallows, a bag of chocolate morsels, and either graham crackers or teddy grahams. Pierce the stick into the marshmallow, dip into melted chocolate and cover in crushed graham cracker crumbs. It goes great with hot chocolate or alone! Enjoy!!

Sweet 16

Happiest of birthdays to my beautiful, incredibly intelligent, humorous little sister McKenzie Victoria.

I can not believe that you are already 16 years old! I remember when we had first moved into our house on December 20th, you were born the 23rd, and brought home on the 25th. You were the greatest Christmas gift that God could have given our family!

I am so thankful for all the times we spend together and I know that there will be plenty more! Rachel and I have a few things planned for all of us to do! Hope you have a wonderful birthday and enjoy being spoiled!!

Home for the Holiday Drink of Choice

My dad is a master at making drinks and for the past couple of years the drink of his choosing has been Whiskey Sours which means that if you want him to make you a drink that’s your drink of choice too! But they are beyond delicious so no complaining on my part!

2 oz of blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
Cherry

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass.

Purchased: New Years Eve Dress

I have been on a search for a New Years dress these past couple of weeks, hence last week’s post. Every year I get down to the last hours panicking and settling for a dress that I spend too much on or hardly like. When I was out this past weekend I found a dress, for a reasonable price and knew that I needed to just take the plunge and purchase before I regretted it! It’s a shimmery charcoal gray. I’m going to get a different belt, possibly bright color or glittery, to substitute for the black one but it’s perfect and best part of finding a dress… no last minute scrambling!

Family Jewels

I have been extremely blessed to have known both my mom and dad’s parents. To have all four of my grandparents is so rare and for so many years I took it for granted. Now as they are all growing older I have made an effort to do everything I can to email, call, see them as much as I can!

Last Sunday we had my Granna and Pop-pop over for dinner. They are my mom’s parents and the cutest couple you have ever seen. They have been married just shy of 60 years and grew up together in Baltimore. The love they have for each other is precious.

At the end of the night my grandmother gave me this ring. It was given to her by my Pop-pop after she had all five of her children. It is so beautiful and the stones are such beautiful colors. Three rubies, one amethyst, and one emerald. I was extremely touched to be the recipient and it is definitely one of my favorite pieces of jewelry.

Serendipity {Georgetown}

This past weekend my sister and I were determined to dedicate one day spent together doing something holiday-ish. Of course both of us knew that whatever the holiday-ish activity would include some shopping. We made our way from Ballston to Clarendon to Georgetown and passed people dressed as elves, Nutcrackers made of balloons and went in and out of stores. At the end of the day being that it was quite chilly out we stopped by Serendipity for a warm drink. Well this warm drink was one of the best (and biggest) hot chocolates I’ve ever had! They have frozen hot cocoa, liquor infused hot cocoas and ones big enough for two. My sister and I both ordered the S’more hot cocoa that was topped with slightly burnt marshmallows, a graham cracker and drizzled chocolate. I couldn’t even finish it… I felt like I was drowning in chocolate happiness.
