Transition

I think the hardest part of winter is finding enough clothes that will carry over from season to season. Different materials look too summery or wintery and it’s hard to find an item that you can wear year round. Well this shift from The Loft is one of those dresses. When I purchased I justified how many different outfits I could make out of this 1 piece. I envisioned black pumps and a white button up, of course cardigans and this look- a brown turtle neck to “break” the rule of mixing black and brown together.

Thankful

Last year I wrote a whole long post about everything that I am thankful for and reflecting back over this past year I have realized that I have just as much if not more to be thankful for. But I’m going to try and keep it sweet and simple…

1. I am thankful for everything that I have been given
2. I am thankful for working hard and hard work paying off
3. I am thankful for my family being so supportive and such a tight group regardless of what obstacles are thrown at us
4. I am thankful for all of my wonderful friends
5. I am thankful for Nick proposing to my sister Rachel, so I can have tons of fun with helping her plan her wedding
6. I am thankful for my new ‘dream’ house and my roommates- couldn’t ask for better ones!
7. I am thankful for my boyfriend, being supportive and making me laugh and remember that life doesn’t always have to be serious
9. I am thankful for my health and the good health that God has blessed those around me with
10. I am thankful for Life. Plain and simple, having a job, a roof over my head, love around me… it is undeniable that I am very blessed.

Happiest of Thanksgivings to you and all those around you. Eat until you are forced to unbutton your pants and drink until your cheeks are pink!

Splurge vs. Save

It is no secret that I am a big fan of J.Crew, but sometimes their prices are just a little bit [a little meaning way too much] out of my price range! In the fall I was looking through their fall looks and I fell so in love with this silk print shift dress that they have. Seriously everything about it is perfect, minus the price tag that came with. I searched everywhere for weeks for a similar one but there were none that even resembled the dress I was lusting over. Then it happened, one day I was in Tysons during my lunch break and as I was walking out to my car and passed Old Navy and saw this dress in the window. Although its not identical it was eye catching and I couldn’t pass it up… especially since it was only $29.94!

Cupcakes & Cashmere

Tuesday night at the new Mosaic Center off of route 29 (which is beyond awesome by the way) South Moon Under had it’s grand opening and who was there… oh only one of my favorite bloggers, Emily from Cupcakes & Cashmere! I was beyond excited… seriously acting like a little girl standing in (the very cold) line waiting to get my book personally signed. I didn’t know what to say, how to introduce myself, etc. but it was awesome and can’t wait to dive into the book and read!

Stained Glass

I bought this dress from Anthropologie last summer and still love it so much. I took these pictures a long time ago (as in a month or two ago) and they got lost in my “to-blog” list. I have been horrible recently I know. Moving (twice) and being gone on the weekends definitely make my blogging sparse, oh and not having internet will do that too!

Instead of buying a whole new fall/winter wardrobe and packing my closet even more so than it is, I really tried to transition summer pieces into fall. Blouses underneath, Cardigans and sweaters definitely help with that!
